The whole path, before you sign up.

Obmondo manages infrastructure you own, from config you own — so there are a few things to have ready. Here is every step, what each one asks of you, and roughly what it costs you in time.

Before you start

Have these three things ready and nothing below will block you.

A LinuxAid config repo

On your own GitHub, GitLab, Gitea or Bitbucket — it stays your repo. Obmondo reads it over SSH via a deploy key you add, and proposes config changes as merge requests you approve; the URL must be git@… or ssh://…, not HTTPS.

No repo yet? We start you from our config template — ask us and we will set it up with you.

A Linux server with root

You will paste one install command into a root shell. The machine reports in on its own after that.

  1. Create your account

    Your name, company and country, then billing details and a VAT number if you are in the EU. We email you a link to verify the address.

  2. Connect your LinuxAid config repo

    Paste the repo SSH URL, generate a key, add it as a deploy key on your git host, and verify. The flow tells you which access level to grant. One-time setup.

  3. Add your first server

    Name the machine, pick the role it runs, tune the settings you care about, and choose a support plan — from €29 per server per month, free for the first 30 days.

  4. Run the install command as root

    Obmondo generates a one-line command scoped to that one machine. It installs the LinuxAid agent — AGPL-3.0, built on OpenVox, the open-source Puppet-compatible config system — which then converges the server on its own every 30 minutes. You need no Puppet experience: the role, profile and hiera layers are maintained for you.

  5. It shows up here

    The machine reports in, monitoring starts, and alerts begin routing to the team you nominated.
